Comments about this video:
I had one when i was 8 and one when i was 12 and it hurt very bad. I'm 13 now and will have to have this test done again sometime in the future because of my medical condition. :(. I had this done on Thursday, it was ok really, didn't feel a thing, didn't hurt at all, I was worried too start with, but it didn't hurt and you don't feel a thing.
i had my second attempt yesterday. i had my throat and nose numbed but i stilled gagged and puked. needless to say, it was unsuccessful.
Had one today and barley feels like it happened.I have fairly high anxiety so I worked myself up over this until I wasn't even sure I could do it,soon as I sat down in the chair,I knew I could. It wasn't too terrible. Not nice, but not too bad. Gagged a fair bit and a little pain.Person performing the procedure was very sweet and the experience certainly didn't leave me with any trauma! Sorry to hear so many people with such bad experiences, come to Australia for treatment if you're not already:).
I had this done last week and it was yuck. Unlike this video I had to swallow water while lying flat on my back - not easy. As bad as this test was, it was a walk in a park compared to its oesophageal 24hr pH monitoring counterpart - smaller tube but it was rigid and quite sharp - scratched my throat and nose up something awful. And it was SHEER HELL!
Omg! I've had this done multiple times!!! NOT FUN!!!! But they didn't give me lidocaine in my throat...just my nose...and they didn't put that protective smock on me. One of the times I regurgitated blood and water on the doctors!! I always choke and gag when this happens!! And afterwards, it still feels like the tube is still in throat!!!
I have had this test done-it was the WORST experience I have ever had but they found out I only have 1 muscle actually working to push the food down to my stomach which is why I choke so easily... wont EVER do it again though... They never numbed my throat at all just the naval cavity.
I had this done in Indianapolis. I was treated horribly. I was not prepared for the test at all. IT HURT LIKE HELL. And I kept gagging. It may have been poor technique by the nurse. Not sure. But I could not have Hiatal Hernia repair due to not being able to do this test. What in bloody hell do they do if you have an emergency. All I can say is it was a bad experience all around. The Nurses at the Indy Hospital where lousy. Poorly trained. This was in Jan. 09.
I didn't get any lidocaine up my nose or in my throat I got the full feeling i guess. Did you get your results yet?I just had this done this morning and it is NOT fun. They didn't numb the back of my throat. though. Otherwise, it was identical to what was done to me. However, I wasn't as calm or relaxed as this patient. I was gagging and coughing and wanted to throw up. I was miserable the ENTIRE time it was in me. I have had 4 endoscopies and I would rather have those ANY day over this. (they sedate you for that) Also, I have a terrible headache due to snorting that lidocaine up my nose!yeah, had one today. Could not even get numbing stuff because I'm allergic to the medicine. I still feel like crap. JUST to find out that everything looks 'normal'.
