Hi Manu I had ACL ligament repair nearly 7 years ago and since then I have started to play soccer badminton on a regular basis. In the last three weeks I have started to experience knee discomfort. In that my knee is hurting outer part and behind the knee it feels week and pain from knee travels towards ankle. I have been told its ITB but what do you think it could be?IT Band pain is usually not behind the knee. Especially if you are waking up with pain now. where exactly is the pain? around the knee cap? deep within the knee?Mri report of my left knee says 1) Complete tear of ACL inits mid-substance 2)Moderate joint effusion 3)Contusions of the posterior aspect of the medial and lateral tibial condyles My query is there treatment in ayurveda for permanent cure of ACL? Hello Manu, I have chronic knee problems, in particular my right knee, pain and swelling mostly. I also have a Baker's cyst on the same knee. I figure I may have arthritis in this knee, self diagnosed. I've not seen a doctor about as yet, but want to know if this would be a good temporary measure before going to a doctor. I want to avoid any surgery if possible. What exercises would you recommend to strengthen the knee?
Check out my strengthening videos on knee exercises. These will help strengthen without loading and aggravating the joint. Baker's cyst often means there is a torn cartilage, meniscus or some intra-articular (within the joint) structure that is injured causing irritation/pain resulting in accumulation of fluid within the joint. Depends on the degree of injury to the tissue if you would need surgery or not. Herbs can also help reduce pain swelling and heal injured tissues.
I did check out you your strengthening vids for knees and actually implemented one last night. More specifically, placing the towel under the knee and flexing the quads. I'll do hamstrings today. I do have strong legs, it just this blasted knee. Anyway, what herbs can you recommend? Or do I have to pay you at that point? You don't have to pay me anything and I don't sell these herbs. Ayurveda uses the following for joint related pains: Ashwgandha, Kaishore Guggulu, Yograj Guggulu, etc. Chinese Medicine uses Yunnan Baiyao or Trauma Formula in early stages of injury and can be helpful. just found your channel, what a treasure chest of information!! I have had some pes anserine bursitis for a couple of weeks caused by going rock bottom on squats. I have used ice, nsaid, and foam rolling but it still bothering and i cannot squat beyond 90 degrees without pain. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much - great variety of exercises! I have an old fitness boot camp knee injury that flairs up every so often, where my TI tightens and causes pain especially above my knee. I've tried RMT massage to alleviate the tightness, but the relief only lasts for a few hours. Do you have any suggestions? Would taping the knee help?

Do you have swelling around the knee? Is it painful to touch? do you have a full range of motion at the joint?I have Osteochodrithis Dissecan in my right inner part of my knee and my exercises are single leg presses and single leg curls and stretches. My question is with these exercises, can they cure the pain i get in and around the knee or or just reduce it to minimal? I find it difficult walking up stairs and half squats pain directly above the knee.
The weight bearing exercises would aggravate an already injured cartilage/bone tissue. I would stay away from the singe leg press. What reduces the pain? What makes your symptoms worst? Do you have more pain after the exercises? If it hurts more and the pain or irritation stays for a while, best to avoid the activity.
This is exactly what I was looking for! We are trying to figure out the exact cause for my leg and knee pain and these are good things for me to work on in the meantime! If it's your MCL ligament (inside ligament), it could be scarred down or have adhesions following your ACL and medial meniscus injury/surgery. Injury to all 3 is called the "unhappy triad". When you stretch it causes pain. Scar tissue massage. can contact me through my site for more details.
So I have tore my acl and medial meniscus for two year now and i just now has it surgery two months ago, before my surgery my lateral ligament keep giving me problem like is very tight I can't seem to figure out to release that pain I thought that if I get my knee surgery it will releases the pain to normal but after the surgery it seem to be the same nothing change so my question to you is do you know what seem to be the problem or any exercise to help it out?
what do you need lateral ligament, do you mean lateral or outside of the knee is tight or painful? Higher likelihood it's the IT Band that's the problem. Specially if you have been dealing with this injury for 2 years. Need to focus on improving hip strength and breaking down restrictions along the outside of the thigh. Hey, i need some help. I'm a basketball player. I practice and play on a daily basis for at least 5 hours. I used to be over weight but now im not. My problem is. If i cut my exersice schedule.. (for example being sick.) What happens is that i lose my flexibiity and agility and my knees hurt very much when bent or running or fast walking. so far this happens everytime i get sick or dont play for more than 5+ days. And i have a really big tournament coming up so i need to be fit. any ideas?

This started last month while I was running on a treadmill. I can't run for more than 5 minutes and have to just walk after the pain shoots. The pain doesn't last long and stops after few hours. Do you have an suggestions on exercises that may help strengthen or reduce the bruising as to I have had this bruising for more than 3 months and it still hurts. 2 LaShonda White: you could have a torn Meniscus. You might want to get an MRI to confirm that, I'm currently in bedrest for the same problem. You might need surgery.It is hard to walk to. I am becoming worried that the injury is more severe than what was told to me. Still limping and the knee is still swollen.Hi doc, I injured my knee while doing a jumping exercise about 7 weeks ago. The doctors stated that I sprained ligaments or something. My knee has been swollen since the injury and also my knee does not feel stable.My knee gives out periodically. Also there is pain when I bend and sever stiffness. Right above my knee cap where it connects with my thigh is very sore and also there is pain in the sides under my knee hurts. PT seems not to be working, What should I do.If the knee is still swollen and very unstable you could have injured the ligaments or the meniscus. The orthopedist or Physical therapist should be able to test to figure out. Might need an MRI if things are not changing. Meanwhile need to use ace bandage or brace to support the joint and use crutches to take the weight off the knee. Pain above the knee can could be quadriceps tendonitis or bursitis and pain along the joint side could be the other structures I mentioned. keep me posted. I just started working out and notice some pain in my right knee when I'm doing squats and I just watched your video on that. When you crunched up and your leg out on the blue ball it reminded me of what we do in Pilates - can be a good idea to make sure your in an area with space and that you have a mat or towel to support your back and neck in these non weight bearing methods - excellent technique - I will use this for my clients as i am a sports massage therapist. Great information! In addition to knee issues, I have sciatic nerve pain in my lower right back. If I'm careful, will this be risky to do while treating my primary issue.. lower back pain? Do you have any videos addressing lower back pain - pinching of sciatic nerve? Thanks!For the sciatic nerve pain the straight leg lift is not comfortable..pulls on the nerve. Definitely the non-weight bearing exercises I have shown in the this video...support the joint with a brace to take some pressure off the torn meniscus. How bad is the tear?
